Sunday, March 27 – Day 16
We spent this morning enjoying a leisurely breakfast (in the open-air restaurant overlooking the ocean) and traveling back to Dodowa. We arrived back home around 2:30 PM, drenched from a sudden rain that started moments after we alighted from the trotro. The brief shower lasted just long enough for us to rinse out our hair after setting our sopping-wet bags inside the house. Washing your hair in the rain is better than washing it in 1/3-bucketfuls of well water carried five-plus minutes by the kids on their heads. Any day.
Life back in Dodowa (alias: Dodowa Vegas) was more exciting than our morning two-taxi, two-tro transit. Two old-new volunteers, Marilyn and Claire, arrived during lunch. They sponsor Stephen and Famous, respectively, at Word of Faith and are here on a return visit to see the kids again. This afternoon, Beauty woke up from a nap and started crying; I was the first to hear and she let me hold her for over an hour. Later, Kujo sat on my lap and colored with crayons. He’s very good at counting for such a little one here. Now it’s off to the orphanage again to help study. Exam week at both WoF and Methodist begins tomorrow.
